The truth is Nightjar really is as good as all the glowing reviews! It had been on my list of cocktail bars to visit for a while and I had high expectations, but was not disappointed. It’s very much a prohibition themed bar which is dark and atmospheric, with live music every night. The cocktails are obvious the real focus point and come with a number of decorative features. My first cocktail, the ‘Sweet Dreams’ was a rum base fruity concoction containing cacao butter, banana blossom, pineapple and coconut yoghurt amongst other ingredients, with plantain chips and ice cream on the top:
Next I opted for the ‘Rosehip Julab’ (vodka based) which included both a rosehip infusion and rose champagne and kewra water which apparently is often used in Indian desserts.
The staff at Nightjar were great too, meaning the only thing I could fault would be the food which was disappointing. There is only a small selection of relatively simple fare and the bread we chose was particularly disappointing. The zucchini rolls were better though rather small. I would definitely recommend having dinner before you come.
